Chiang Rai, night market and street party

Summary

» Country? Thailand.

» In a few words, what is the idea? This post invites you to take advantage of any chance to join local people, interact and have fun. We are in a typical night market in the city centre, where you can go shopping and maybe have the opportunity to dance. A very funny ending.

» Duration? 3 hours.

» For whom? Not too shy travellers, who would like to dance and have fun with the Thais.

» Where? Street parties like this one in Chiang Rai, next to the Saturday night market.

» When? Weekends and some local celebrations.

Description

Apart from being very friendly, Thais have a good sense of humour and do their best to enjoy life (Sanuk). Like everyone else, probably.

Among other things, they love dancing and that happens at street parties in towns and villages during popular festivals and in some night markets.

A good and fun way of seeing Thailand close-up.

If you feel like having direct contact with the Thais, here you will find a good opportunity. As happens on Saturdays next to the Chiang Rai night market.

At dusk, you can start the visit enjoying the famous clock tower. It’s a bit kitsch, but funny.

Once the show is over, we suggest strolling around the night market in the downtown streets, to finally join the verbena and dance any song that sounds, such as a Thai-style cha-cha-cha.

You can also lump together among the public and even offer a dance partner exchange, you will be welcome, for sure.

This kind of celebrations shows a different and very nice country.
